Lens Language explores areas of the lens that are barely discussed elsewhere, like choosing the right focal length. For instance, focal lengths that work for still photography don’t necessarily work for cinema. In this training course Shane Hurlbut, ASC shines a light on how to choose a lens and work with its focal lengths to directly impact how your audience feels.

The module includes in-depth lens tests, utilizing selective focus, details about sensors and lenses, and examines how to manipulate perspective and space.

Expect to learn the insights DPs rarely share like glass challenges and solutions, cinema glass versus still glass, and the technical aspects of lensing. Also included are in-depth discussions from high-end and vintage brands to budget-friendly options that are readily available. Lensing is a personal choice and your focal length plays an important role in your storytelling.
